In line with his well-known passionate commitment to the Act of Remembrance, Fr Hugh spearheaded a research programme at St Anselm Hall in the University of Manchester in 2019. With undergraduate and postgraduate support the biographies of those listed on the War Memorial in the Hall Chapel were researched and the final work was entitled, “Floreat – The Fallen.”
Considerable interest was stimulated far beyond the shores of the United Kingdom. This led to a Global Wreath Laying Project with poppy wreaths being laid at Commonwealth War Grave sites where former members of his Hall are remembered. Fr Hugh has arranged for them to be laid via friends and current members of Hall in India, Israel, Holland and Poland. However, others still need visiting in Italy, Germany, Austria, Turkey, Libya and Myanmar.
