In May 2026, the Chamber Choir of St Martin-in-the-Fields, London, had the privilege of visiting St Paul’s Church, Monaco. At St Martin’s, music forms an integral part of worship, outreach, and community life, drawing on a tradition that spans many decades. The church is home to a wide range of musical activity, from congregational singing and voluntary choirs to professional concerts and broadcasts.
The St Martin’s Chamber Choir is one of our voluntary ensembles, comprising around 30 singers, most of whom have full-time careers as lawyers, teachers, doctors, and in many other professions, while pursuing music as a passion. During our visit to St Paul’s, we sang a concert on the Saturday evening, featuring Fauré’s Requiem, before joining the church community for a lovely reception afterwards. On Sunday, we sang Choral Evensong, including the Responses by Joanna Forbes L’Estrange and Stanford’s Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis in C, and felt privileged to be part of such a warm and welcoming church community. We very much hope to return in the future.
