Re-dedication of The Lady Chapel

The Chaplain was anticipating a small number to attend the service of rededication of the Lady Chapel, following its recent restoration works.

In the event nearly 50 people were in St Paul’s and became part of this ecumenical gesture.

The Roman Catholic Archbishop of Monaco dedicated the Chapel with incense and holy water and preached with gravitas. He contrasted Adam and Eve’s hiding from God with the Blessed Virgin Mary’s response, “Yes, let it be to me according to your word.”

Felicity Murphy, our soprano, sang Immaculate Mary, a piece from Verdi and Salve Regina. It was beautiful, fitting and prayerful.

Those present included the artisans involved in the restoration, members of the Dominican Order, now located at St Charles’, the British Consul, the President of BAM, the Orthodox community, members of St Paul’s and their friends.

Everyone is welcome to appreciate the results of the careful work which included cleaning, replacing window elements and painting the ceiling to suitably refresh and enhance this special space.
