The Book of Common Prayer has been central to Anglican worship since its introduction in 1549, as a revolutionary text that has gone on to influence not only Christian worship, but the very language we use.
The Prayer Book Society has been working tirelessly for more than 50 years to keep the Prayer Book at the heart of the Church of England and to promote its use in churches across the UK and the world. The Prayer Book has been translated into 150 languages, bringing the beauty, majesty and dignity of these texts as the basis for reverend worship into more than 50 countries.
St Paul’s has been supporting the use of the Book of Common Prayer since 2023, with three services each week – Thursdays and Fridays at 5pm and Sundays at 8am.
As a corporate member of the Prayer Book Society, St Paul’s is proud to support the society’s work and act as an ambassador of the Book of Common Prayer in the principality of Monaco.
The Prayer Book Society produces a magazine three times a year. Its most recent edition refers to the chairman’s February 2024 visit to St Paul’s to mark the church becoming a member and committing to preserve Anglican worship in one of its most traditional forms.
