We’re now well into the season of Lent and that is the underlying theme of this puzzle.
There are quite a few anagrams here, so look out for words that indicate movement, change, deterioration etc. As a reminder, cryptic clues contain a definition AND an explanation. For example, 19 Down does not relate to some culinary deceit, but needs to be thought of in three parts – Admit to (DEFINITION), adding bit of flavouring to (THE LETTER “F”), overcooked scones (ANAGRAM OF “SCONES”).
