Once a year, and amongst other duties, our chaplain preaches at the Chapel Royal as part of his responsibilities as one of His Majesty’s Chaplains. This year, Fr Hugh used the occasion to reflect on how our Centenary Prayer Bears have been a source of comfort and a tangible reminder of God’s love, spreading that message far and wide (as far as French Polynesia!).

The congregation included several familiar faces from St Paul’s, as well as distinguished guests such as John Service from the Prayer Book Society, of which St Paul’s is a corporate member, and Canon Huw Thomas, whom we have had the pleasure of welcoming as a guest preacher. Her Royal Highness, Princess Alexandra the Honourable Lady Ogilvie was also in attendance whom Fr Hugh was introduced to and spent some time with after the service.

The service was enriched by the music of the chapel’s talented organist and choristers, to whom Fr Hugh presented a Prayer Bear in thanks and recognition as part of his sermon.

Following the service, the St Paul’s regulars and guests made their way to the RAF Club to enjoy a convivial drink together in place of our usual post-service coffee.
