You are warmly invited to participate in this year’s Lent course, ‘Celebrating Nicaea’, organised by Fr Hugh and Fr James Johnston, the Anglican chaplain in Marseilles. Below you will find an introductory letter from Fr James.

Dear Friends,
Thank you very much for taking part in our Lent course this year, Celebrating Nicaea. It will be a particular pleasure to welcome members of different chaplaincies in our Deanery along with their Chaplains, some of whom will be leading sessions.
As mentioned in the invitation note (a copy of which is attached for ease of reference), the course has been devised by the Diocese in Europe and all the material is published on their website at this link – https://www.europe.anglican.org/celebrating-nicaea-lent-course-0 .
To make it easier to identify what is needed for each session, I plan to circulate two items in advance each week during the course –
1 The participants’ handout for the coming session; and
2 The pre-session preparation material for the coming session. The material contains some background notes, with links to short videos which you may like to watch before the session.
Attached, therefore, are the handout and preparation material for session 1. (Please don’t be daunted by the amount of preparation material for this one – it’s the longest of the five!)
