In this puzzle you’ll find references to some of the trees and plants mentioned in the Bible, i.e. the clues with asterisks. These might be good starting points, as well as numbers 8 and 19 Across which can be looked up easily online.
It’s useful to remember that usually phrases indicating the start or end of a word very often refer to a letter which forms part of the answer. Likewise, “edges of” can be the outside letters of the following word (viz: 2 Down).
