Re:    Lemuel Ministries

Dear Council,

Please accept my warmest greetings.  Although we have been in Ontario for almost two years, Monaco is still feels very much like ‘home.’

I wanted to write a brief note to express my appreciation for your involvement with Lemuel Ministries in Haiti.  John can attest to the desperate conditions in the Northwest and much of what you need to know about Lemuel is on their blog site, so I will not reiterate what they can tell you.  Rather, the reason for this letter is to give you a personal perspective on their ministry.

The thing that impresses me most about Manis and Judy is their vision, a rare commodity in a fourth-world country.  It has kept them persevering through the many and varied trials they have faced, allowing them to begin to see fruit for their labour.  More importantly, their vision is not to build their own empire but to bring the kingdom of God and the good news of Jesus to Haiti’s impoverished Northwest Peninsula, to see communities transformed spiritually, economically and socially.

One glimpse of their “success” can be seen in the fact that five local councils, from the villages around Lemuel, have sent representatives to Manis to learn how they can bring transformation to their communities.  The fact that he freely shares his insights is rare in Haitian culture.

My point is simply to say that your assistance is a solid investment – not just in Lemuel but in the whole Plateau.

Thank you again for your gracious gift to the work of Lemuel.

Sincerely,

Jim Beerley
